How to make a slide deck with Claude for free
Open Claude, paste your notes or attach a file, and ask for a short slide deck: say who it is for and how many slides you want. Ask for changes in the chat or edit a slide yourself, then click Export to download PowerPoint or PDF, or send it to Google Slides. Anthropic's help page says this works on every plan, including Free.
What you need
| App | Claude on the web, the desktop app, or the iPhone and Android apps |
|---|---|
| Cost | Free. Anthropic's help page says artifacts, including decks, are on the Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans |
| Time | About 10 minutes for a short deck |
| You need | Your notes, or a file that has what the slides should say |
Step by step
Step 1: Get your notes ready
Gather what the deck should say: rough notes, a report or a document. Take out anything you would not show the people watching, because Claude puts what you give it on the slides.
Step 2: Ask Claude for a deck
Open a chat in Claude, paste your notes or attach the file, and paste the prompt below. Say who will watch it and how many slides you want. You can also start from a template in the Artifacts tab.
Prompt to copyMake a slide deck from my notes below for [who will watch it]. Use [6] slides, one idea per slide, a short heading and no more than three short points on each. End with one slide on the next steps. My notes: [paste your notes]

Ask Claude for changes in the chat, or edit a slide yourself. Change one thing at a time, so you can see what moved.
Prompt to copyMake slide [3] shorter and simpler. Keep the heading and use plain words.Step 4: Check every slide
Read each slide before anyone sees it. Claude only knows what you gave it, so fix any name, date or fact that is wrong, and remove anything you did not mean to share.
Step 5: Export it
Click Export. Anthropic's help page says decks export to PowerPoint and PDF, or go straight to Google Slides as editable files.
Tip: If Claude says it cannot make files, open Settings, then Capabilities, and turn on Code execution and file creation. Anthropic's help page says it is on by default on the Free, Pro and Max plans.
What you get
Example answer from Claude on 25 Oct 2026, for made-up notes about a dog called Biscuit and a new dog sitter. Shortened to the words on each slide. Yours will be worded differently.
Common mistakes
- Pasting details you would not show the room, such as phone numbers, money figures or other people's private information. Claude puts what you give it on the slides.
- Sharing the deck without reading every slide. Claude only knows your notes, so check each name, date and fact first.
