What is Personal Intelligence in Android Auto?

In a post on 20 October 2026, Google said Gemini is available globally on Android Auto and cars with Google built-in, and that it is rolling out Personal Intelligence with it starting today.

With your permission, Personal Intelligence connects information from Workspace (including Gmail and Google Calendar), Google Photos, Google Maps, YouTube and Search.

What can you ask it?

Google gives five examples. You can ask "What's my flight gate? And is my flight on time?" and get both answers in one go, or "Take me to my doctor's appointment" without looking up the address.

You can also say "Find me an indoor restaurant along my route that matches my usual vibe." Google says a vegetarian gets a shortlist of places that fit. Others are "Find the car wash from the photo I took last week and navigate there" and "Take me to the coffee shop we were talking about yesterday."

Who can use it?

Google says it is rolling out to eligible personal Google accounts aged 18 and older, globally, excluding the European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Nigeria. It is not for Workspace business, enterprise or education users.

Android Auto gets it first. Cars with Google built-in get it in the coming months, and there it only shares personal answers when you are in the car with your phone connected.

Is it private, and how do you turn it off?

Google says your apps are not connected until you choose to turn it on, and you can turn it off at any time in your Gemini settings. If you already enabled it in the Gemini app, it comes with you into the car.

If you do not use Personal Intelligence, navigation, music, calls and questions still work, but the answers are not tailored to you.

Why does it matter?

Many drivers already talk to their car. This lets the assistant find your own details, such as a flight or a saved place, so you do not need to dig through apps on your phone.

What's next?

Watch for the rollout to cars with Google built-in in the coming months, and for whether Google widens the list of countries.
