What did Google announce?

Google said on 13 October 2026 that Gemini 4 Argon is now globally available. Argon is its newest frontier model, built for deep work on long, multi-step tasks such as coding, finance, legal work, cybersecurity and science.

Until now, Google had only rolled Argon out to a set of trusted cyber defenders through its Fairwind Program, and said it would widen access in phases.

Who can use Gemini 4 Argon?

Google lists three groups. Developers and enterprises can use it through the API in AI Studio and Gemini platform. Google AI Ultra subscribers can use it in Google Antigravity. Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers can use it in the Gemini app and in AI Mode in Search.

Google's announcement does not name free Gemini users.

How much does Gemini 4 Argon cost?

For developers, Google lists an introductory price of $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. Cached input tokens are 95% cheaper. A token is a small piece of text that an AI reads or writes.

Google calls this an introductory price, so it may change.

What does Google say Argon can do?

Google says Argon ranks #1 on the Vals Index, which measures model performance on work in finance, coding, legal and tax.

Inside Google, it says Argon in Antigravity helped teams raise agentic code submissions by more than 35% and cut code rollbacks by nearly a third. It also says Argon helped the Chrome team finish a refactor across hundreds of files, work that took weeks instead of months.

These are Google's own results. Independent tests may differ.

Why does it matter?

A model announced in September is now one that developers and paying Gemini users can actually try. That is when its claims can be tested by people outside Google.

What's next?

Watch for independent tests of Google's claims, and for what happens to the price when the introductory period ends. Google has not said when that is.
